Unwind with Portland’s Nightlife Near the Oregon Convention Center

Whether you are planning a trip to Portland for fun or have business to attend to, the Oregon Convention Center has plenty places to unwind and experience the Portland nightlife, all within short proximity to the Inn at the Convention Center. From sports bars to hip hot spots, there is a lot to enjoy after hours on the East side. Here are a few places we recommend checking out on your next stay in Portland:

Spirit of 77 (500 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd)

Named for the ’77 Portland Trail Blazer team, Spirit of 77 is the perfect place to grab a beer and take in a basketball game with local fans. Located conveniently across the street from the Oregon Convention Center, this gastropub/sports bar not only features plenty of TV space for watching the game, but also has tons of bar games and was voted as one of Portland’s “Best Bars for Playing” by Portland Monthly Magazine.

Secret Society (116 NE Russell St.)

Just a hop and a skip North on the Max line, the Secret Society is the perfect place to relax with a classic cocktail. This bar features a Prohibition-era speakeasy aesthetic and one of Portland’s largest selections of Absinth. While you’re there, enjoy live music in Secret Society’s larger venue space.

Upright Brewing Tasting Room (240 N. Broadway)

Tucked into the basement of the Leftbank Building, Upright Brewing opens its tasting room Thursday through Sunday, in addition to nights when the Blazers play home games. Grab a pint and enjoy photography, paintings, and craft woodwork from local artists or experience one of Upright’s events, such as the monthly Oyster Social happening the last Friday of every month. The brewery space is open to the public, so be sure to view the open fermentation room while you are there.

Rontoms (600 E Burnside St.)

Take the streetcar South and checkout one of the East side’s hippest bars. Rontoms has a rustic-industrial space with a large patio for nice days and fireplaces for those colder, wet Portland evenings. Rontoms is a hot spot for watching local bands, and they have a delicious selection of pub food and full bar menu.

Swift Lounge (1932 NE Broadway)

If you are looking to hide out for an evening in a local dive, walk up Broadway Street to Swift Lounge. Grab a bite to eat, a mason jar of your favorite beverage and spend your evening people watching. Featuring happy hour specials from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Swift Lounge is the perfect place to sit and unwind like the locals do after a full day.
